CHERRYWOOD ART FAIR

Cherrywood Art Fair began in 2002 as a tiny neighborhood event designed to bring shoppers looking for quality original art together with artists who needed a venue to reach their audience. Now in our 10th year, we’ve grown into one of Austin’s most popular and well regarded art shows, a stand-out holiday event.

WHY?

But that’s not all…there’s a mission behind the Fair. Proceeds from Cherrywood Art Fair benefit Little Artist Big Artist, a program that pairs East Austin elementary students with professional artists to experience the creative process from idea generation through creation and the sale of their work.

The Little Artist Big Artist program provides an opportunity for the students to celebrate creativity, develop personal expression, and strengthen social skills while engaging in positive adult communication in an after- school setting.

At the end of the program, the Little Artist keeps one work of art, and the second is featured in a public art show in May, then auctioned at the Cherrywood Art Fair. Students learn basic business skills of selling their art and then donate the proceeds back to their school’s art program.
Other East Austin public art and beautification projects of Chula League are also supported. A chunk of that money directly benefits the arts and gardening programs at Maplewood Elementary School. What great reasons to have an Art Fair!
