Cherrywood Art Fair is the annual production of Chula League, an East Austin 501(c)3 non-profit. Proceeds benefit the Little Artist Big Artist Program among other projects in East Austin.

Chula League was originally formed as a neighborhood-based organization dedicated to the promotion of the Arts, Art Education, and Artful landscapes in East Austin public spaces. Part of that mission has been realized with the exponential growth of our Little Artist Big Artist Program, the beautification of Patterson Park, and other successful projects.

Chula League needs YOUR help! If you are interested in becoming a member of Chula League, please plan to attend our annual Membership Meeting coming soon! Visit the Chula League website for more details:

History of Chula League

What is Chula League?  The Cherrywood Urban Landscape and Arts (CHULA) League is an East Austin non-profit formed in 2005 to support the arts and artful landscape in East Austin.

The need for a separate organization to produce the Cherrywood Art Fair, and use the proceeds to support art and artful landscapes in East Austin, became apparent during the 2004 Art Fair.  As a result, tax exempt status was sought and received in 2005, and Chula League was born.

Chula League has continued to produce the Art Fair each year beginning in 2005, and to produce the Little Artist/Big Artist Program as part of the Fair beginning in 2008; Chula League has used the proceeds to fund prioritized projects promoted by members.

Chula League is a non-profit membership corporation.  Chula League is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, scientific and aesthetic purposes. Chula League works to ensure that the arts and public outdoor spaces play a valued role in the educational, economic and cultural well being of Cherrywood Neighborhood in Austin, Texas, (Cherrywood) and adjacent neighborhoods.

The Chula League membership elects Board members each year in accordance with the bylaws, and the Board elects its officers.

The purpose of this corporation is:

  • To encourage the enrichment of private landscapes and surroundings through art, design and creative activity
  • To enhance or preserve the beauty of public outdoor spaces through art, design and creative activity
  • To support arts and environmental education
  • To undertake and promote charitable events related to the appreciation of the arts and aesthetic landscapes
  • To seek grant funding and sponsorship donations for art education and public outdoor space improvements
