Why…

…was Cherrywood Art Fair created?

The Cherrywood Art Fair began in 2002 as a tiny neighborhood event. The idea was to bring shoppers looking for quality original work together with local artists who love their craft, create all original work, and need venues to reach their audience.

We’ve grown into one of Austin’s most popular and well regarded art shows. Thousands of Austinites visit the Cherrywood Art Fair year in and year out. The Austin American Statesman chose us as the stand-out holiday art event. And if that is not reason enough to keep us going, there is a mission behind the Fair.

We support the arts and artful landscape in East Austin.

All net proceeds from the show go to support public art and beautification projects in East Austin, through our non-profit producer, CHULA (the Cherrywood Urban Landscape and Arts League).

We donate much-needed funds to Art Eduction.

A highlight of the show is the Little Artist/Big Artist art experience program for students, and a generous portion of the proceeds from the Fair goes to the art and gardening eduction programs at Maplewood Elementary.
